Weekend in SoCal

This weekend, I headed down to visit my friend Cade to hang out and talk about some graphic design stuff. Friday night, Cade, Erik and I all went to Hollywood for some fun dancing, then drove back to Huntington Beach. I really love SoCal, and the music was great yet again at Ultra Suede. Saturday, we woke up late, and Erik had to go to work, so Cade and I got the food ready for our big barbecue that evening with his friends. Turns out that we are really all connected, and I had met some of the friends during my previous stay in LA last year. Very fun, amazing food –cheers to the chef, Cade, and great company. After most everyone was done, soaking in the hot tub was quite nice. Sunday, Cade and I drove down to San Diego to take a look around. Of course the weather was amazing, and the scenery was really pretty. San Diego is really growing, and it seems like a great place to be. That evening, I flew back to San Francisco to get ready for work the next day.

Compiments from a stranger

Yesterday, Sam and I went to Macy’s for the signing of some Swedish Calvin Klein model. After we got the autograph we headed to dinner, and as we were walking up Stockton Street, a girl turned around to me and said I really like your shirt. Obviously I thanked her, but I thought, that was so nice of a complete stranger to say that. So, she joined our conversation until she parted of down another street. I simply love bumping into people and talking. The fun of being in a condense city–you never know who you’ll meet around the next corner.

Shrek 2

This is the funniest thing. I loved the movie so much! My friend Jason and I went over to the movie, and Dreamworks has made an incredibly humorful, colorful experience.

The humor in this thing was so hilarious and not to ruin anything, but I had my eyes crying laughing so hard at Puss in Boots, and Pinnochio’s lying. Watch out for those two special parts. :)

This is definitely a MUST SEE.

San Francisco’s Homeless Problem

So I was at the train station with two friends. I’m in the middle of two ends of the spectrum when it comes to the homeless/beggars. We were approached by a man who claims to have been just 68 cents short of making his trip to Berkeley and was asking us for money. I thought what an odd number to make up, because the train only goes in 5 cent increments. Anyhow, after he asked, one friend said, ‘Well, unfortunately, I’m short that same amount to my stop too’. Then, the other end of the spectrum whipped out her purse and said, ‘Ok, here’s a quarter, but next time, plan your trip and buy a two way ticket so you don’t come into this problem again.’ He grunts and then walks away. As he’s walking away, I’m appalled at his lack of politeness with taking the money and not saying anything, so I said, ‘You’re not even going to thank her?’ He turned around, and grunted again, and shook his head probably thinking, I’ve asked the WRONG crowd here for money. He handed back the quarter, and went along his way to ask more people for that mysterious 68 cents needed to exit the station over in Berkeley.

The Frugal Chinese

After living in San Francisco, and primarily living in Nob Hill which is adjacent to China Town, you find that the Chinese people here are very frugal. After having lived and traveled all over Asia, I had a good idea of this, however as generalizations go, you can’t say all are. After all, most of the mercedes and bmw’s are being driven by those ‘frugal’ Chinese. But, the sight I saw tonight was at the other end of the spectrum.

On my way to the gym, I saw a Chinese woman with her SF jacket which retails for about $9 all over Fisherman’s wharf, with kitchen tongs. She was hunched over the side walk picking up smoked cigarettes to see if they had any tobacco left in them for smoking later on. She had a plastic bag full of these partially smoked cigarettes. My first thought was wow, what people will do for a smoke. But then my second thought, wow, how cheap can you get?

Back from Cabo San Lucas!

So my vacation finally came to a close. Now with dark tanned skin, bleached blond hair, and my luck of dark blue eyes, I have the great summer look to start the new season :)

Too bad that it’s not how it was where summer marked the beginning of a long relaxing break from school. Does working not get monotonous? I don’t see how people do it, seriously. There’s no end in sight.

Anyhow, the Mexico pages will be built hopefully within the week so new friends and old can take a peek into my latest journey.
